Nentir Vale:
The Nentir Vale appears to be a possible gigantic caldera surrounded by a mountains, created in part by tectonics, and in part due to a fire elemental. It seems that deep beneath the Vale lava still exists, though there are no known volcanoes in the area.
Locations:
There are several places of interest that you all know of nearby town

  • Lake of Glittering Sands: somewhere up in the mountains. you just have old stories so far about how there had been a beautiful lake that had abundant natural resources and was mineral rich that fed a small river out of the mountains.
    • We’ve found the lake bed, and brought a sample of the fine sand back to Rorona for study before we decide whether to refill it.
    • The water is being taken away using powerful weather spells.
    • Henrietta noticed the presence of some sort of water spirit here in the past, an immortal or fey
  • Witchlight Fens: They are to the south east of town. what you know of them is that they a type of marsh that has rumors of strange things going on in there. Bizarre lights and ghostly specters have been seen in the area. They are a rich source of rare herbs and other organic materials. There is also talk of a strange forest deeper in the Fens.
    • A pair of adventurers were sent into the Fens on a scouting mission. They discovered that there are at least 2 factions of lizardfolk which do not get along.
      • One faction seems to be aligned with the bog hags and a black dragon.
      • The other faction is under threat of a huge creature, possibly the dragon but the vague description of the creature doesn’t quite sound like a dragon.
  • Crystal Geode Caves: There are a series of massive Geodes that seem to have formed in this area for some reason.
    • There are at least 20 geodes possessing different kinds of magical properties. Chant can navigate these after becoming one with the universe.
    • You managed to get a piece of crystallized Primordial blood from in here. You definitely think that this place has untapped resources.
    • Exploring of the geodes we found that there are tunnels inhabited by some form of small underground humanoid.
    • We also found a central room growing highly rare magical crystals that replicate magic. Due to a coffee overdose we found out that this is a shard of a enormous spell used for travel. This portion had something to do with movement control. Likely related to the large area of terrain that looks scooped out. We also discovered that the Dungeon Keeper pick we used to get into the geodes has been damaging them. We attempted to repair the central crystal growth room but it would require a huge amount of magic. We gathered several crystals, gave one to Rorona for study and sealed the area off. Will ask apprentices about it when they visit.
  • The Mine: you have managed to clear out the upper level of the mine and barricade off the lower area.
    • The upper area has some copper but its not abundant.
    • The lower area breaks into an underground cavern that had some form of large (4×4) purple puni in it. (puni are a strange jello like creature that manifest in Mana abundant areas.) This turned out to be a corrupted Mana Spirit of Darkness named Plua. This area contains magical water with natural primal healing properties.
      • The water in the cavern is similar to what should be in the Lake of Glittering Sands, possibly this has a similar source or the same source, but the water is not the same as the lake water. Whatever is taking the lake water may not have discovered this branch yet.
    • The lower area was found to house a temple of Tiamat. The kobolds within had been taking metallic dragon eggs and converting them into draconians. After an unfortunate telefrag incident, we recovered 4 gold dragon eggs which later hatched. The wyrmlings are currently being paid to guard our gold supply. We destroyed the temple, concurrent with an attack on the town by the kobolds which was successfully defended against.
  • Mountain Peaks: The mountain peaks are in a rather unusual curve off into the horizon on each side of the maps. They also are rather steep for where they are. (See first note about the Vale).
    • The mountain with the lake has giants and rocs living around it.
  • Badlands: past the mountain peaks the ground slopes down into an area of badlands. The change in environment is unusually abrupt. Not much is known about this area.
    • Suspect this to be related to the giant transport spell shard of which we found.
  • The Crag: a rather strange massive ravine found just north of the forest to the east of town in the foothills of the mountains. It is extremely deep with with sheared sides. It appears to possibly be where someone stuck a huge sword into the ground, leaving the impression of the ‘crag’.
    • At the bottom of this is aeroglass, where air and fire elements met and formed the glass.
    • The Crag is deep enough that it goes to the Underdark.
    • Party travels to the bottom of the Crag to trade with a group of Myconids each month.
  • The Underground City: A teardrop-shaped cavern deep in the Underdark at least a quarter mile tall, if not more. This cavern contains an ancient city that was ‘force nuked’ at some point, leaving almost nothing organic in the area. The archaeologists date the place (as far as they can tell) as being from after but near the Dawn War in age.
    • The force magic was masking a far realm taint in the area, could have been either for or against the far realm. This aura is serious, some sort of really powerful far realm manifestations, not a creature, but potentially a far realm crossing. A possible beach head that was basically blown up by something powerful.
    • Created a pathway to get there directly.
  • The Winterbole Forest
